Details about the data:

Retention percentages represent the share of the initial full-time undergraduate transfer cohort that was still enrolled in subsequent years. Retention is measured on a fall-to-fall basis, so year 1 retention means students who completed the first year and returned the following fall.

The graduation rate is the share of the same cohort that graduated within the specified time. Graduation rates are cumulative and are measured through the final summer of the year shown.

Because transfer completion times vary considerably, the total success measure is the combined percentage of either graduation or continued enrollment as of the year shown and may give a more complete picture in the shorter term.

The default UCR Overall measure is calculated at the university level and is not affected by changing colleges or majors. The college and major options report retention and graduation within those academic units, based on the student's declared major as of their first fall enrollment.

Underrepresented minority (URM) students include those who identify as American Indian/Alaskan Native, Black/African American, Chicano/Latino, or Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander.

STEM Majors include those in the Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE) and the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (CNAS).
